1. Repair Steps
Disassembly Preparation:
Drain the coolant and engine oil, and remove the cylinder head, intake and exhaust manifold, and other accessories.
Mark each component carefully to avoid assembly errors.
Cleaning the Contact Surfaces:
Use a scraper or sandpaper to remove old sealant and impurities from the cylinder block and cylinder head surfaces.
Ensure the contact surfaces are smooth and free of scratches; otherwise, grinding and repair are necessary.
Installing the New Cylinder Gasket:
Check the orientation of the cylinder gasket (some gaskets have a "TOP" mark) and ensure that the oil and water passages are aligned.
Apply a special sealant (such as silicone-based sealant) to a thickness of 0.1-0.2mm.
Tightening the Bolts:
Tighten in steps to the specified torque (usually 10-15 N·m) and in a crosswise order (from the center outward). Tighten to 50% initially, 75% twice, and finally 100%.
II. Key Notes
Avoid overtightening: Excessive bolt torque may cause cylinder head deformation and lead to new leaks.
Check flatness: If cylinder head flatness exceeds tolerance (more than 0.05mm), milling repair is required.
Replace coolant: After repair, replace with fresh coolant to prevent impurities in the old coolant from corroding the new cylinder head gasket.
